This is the story of how we celebrated Jonas turning 6….lego style!
Birthdays are a big deal to our little man.
We don’t just hear about it in the weeks or months leading up to September 21st, we hear about it all year long.
So this year I started brainstorming for his party a little earlier…hoping to avoid throwing things together at the last minute. I scoured the internet and the ideas started coming together in my brain.
I started with a set of lego themed printables found here. (I also loved some of her other ideas and borrowed them for our party!)
Invitations went out the week before the party.

The day of his party, he (and a friend) were met by balloons when they hopped off the bus.

And some decorations at the front door.

And some more decorations and food inside.

Notice the little bowl with the cookies? They looked like lego so I had to include them.
The cupcake toppers and all lego decorations were included in the printable kit.
I also loved the cupcake tower I saw on her site so we decided to go that route instead of a cake. (Jonas was good with that as long as his cupcake would have a lego man on it.
)
I cheated and used a cake mix and Betty Crocker icing. Even so, these were a labor of love but I love how they turned out!

As the boys arrived, they went to play in the backyard.
The zip line was the hit of the day!

Then we headed inside and played “build and tell.”
Love their imaginations!

Present time. (which included lots of lego!)

And then lego pizza time.
At least I thought it looked like lego.
They weren’t all that convinced but they chowed down nonetheless.

Cupcake time.

Then we played lego bingo.
As each boy got bingo, they were able to choose a lego fun pack for their goodie bag. (I found them online at Toys”R”Us for cheap!)
Building the fun packs.

(my sister and niece came to help out with the party which was wonderful! )
Once their creations were done, they were added to their goodie bags.

We then headed to the garage for the final hurrah…a pinata!

I love how the pinata turned out! It was custom made by someone local for a very reasonable price!

Everybody left with some sugar to add to their goodie bags.
And that was that.
One tired, happy 6 year old, and one tired, happy mama.
